Hello all! I've seen that a few members, having not played the games or been familiar with Pokémon much in the first place may need some help with the details of their teams for their characters. I'd like to help out, so I'll be putting up a tutorial of the best way to do your Pokémon team up right here~!
If you'd like to see how to do a proper profile in general, as opposed to a goth sue like Raven Lace, I suggest you look at any of the accepted profiles. They're accepted because they meet our standards, and they're a good place to look.
Now, onto the Pokémon! Here's what we require:
Species:
Nickname:
Gender:
Level:
Type:
Nature:
Ability:
Held Item:
Moveset:
Personality:
Extra Information:
The species should be easy; it means what kind of Pokémon it is! So, for an example, let's use a Pikachu. You'd fill in "Species" with "Pikachu". Simple enough!
Nickname is pretty easy too. If your trainer has given it a nickname or calls it something other than it's species name, include it here. So, let's say Pikachu's trainer calls it Sparky. We'd put "Sparky" in the "Nickname" part. Done!
Gender seems simple, but make sure that it's not a genderless Pokémon. Some of them, like legendaries (which you aren't allowed to have anyway) and Pokémon like Magnemite and Ditto. In addition, some Pokémon have only one gender, such as how Nidorino and Mothim are only males, and Chansey and Froslass are only girls. Just double check :3 We'll make Sparky a female.
Levels on this site are pretty flexible. For Seven and people affiliated with Absolution your level cap is 49, and we suggest no lower than thirty (though you can go all the way to one if you so choose). Don't worry too much, because your Pokémon will gain levels on the site. Sparky will be a level 42 for this example.
Type is what type or types your Pokémon is. For example, Bulbasaur is a grass/poison type. Magmar is a fire type. Wooper is a water/ground type. Sparky is an electric type, so we'll put it in the correct spot.
Nature is much simpler than many people are making it out to be. Simply go here: www.serebii.net/games/natures.shtml
Then, pick a nature from the list. The reason we require these is for our battle system, which is still under construction. It will modify your Pokémon's stats. I suggest picking a nature that corresponds with your Pokémon's personality instead of going for the stat changes, but I can't stop you. For Sparky, let's choose a "Rash" nature.
Ability is also simple. Just go to www.serebii.net/index2.shtml and click any of the Pokédexs in the top left bar. Use any but the first one, as the first one does not include abilities. Find the Pokémon you want (in this case, Pikachu) and look under "Ability". If you're using the Black/White Dex, there will be an option for a "Dream World" Ability. You can use it if you wish. For Pikachu, let's choose Static and put that as the ability.
Held items are optional (though you can only have one per Pokémon if you choose to use them), and you can find a list here: www.serebii.net/itemdex/list/holditem.shtml
Let's give Sparky a Light Ball, since that's something it carries in the wild, and because I don't want to leave a space blank for this tutorial.
Movesets consist of what the Pokémon knows. Go back to Serebii and file though one of the Pokédexes for your Pokémon. Look at the level you chose (42 for Sparky) and scroll down to where it shows moves by leveling up. Since Sparky is a level 42 and I'm using the third Pokédex, we can see that Sparky is leveled up enough to know any of it's level up moves except[/b] Thunder, which it will learn in three levels. So, we can pick any move except Thunder. You can pick all four moves from there, or you can choose to have a TM (preferably one) or an egg move (also preferably one). For Sparky, we'll use two level up moves, a TM, and an egg move. Sparky will know: Light Screen, Thunderbolt, Brick Break and Wish.
Personality is yours to write :3 I suggest again that you match it somewhat to your nature, so in this case, I would write about how Sparky is rash and cocky, and likes to dive into battle offensively without thinking. Maybe it has trouble listening to it's trainer because it doesn't stop to think.
Extra information is things that perhaps didn't belong in Personality but you still want to include, things like a specific marking or perhaps an accessory, or what they're used for on the team.
So, here's our completed profile for our Pokémon:
Species: Pikachu
Nickname: Sparky
Gender: Female
Level: 42
Type: Electric
Nature: Rash
Ability: Static
Held Item: Light Ball
Moveset: Light Screen, Thunderbolt, Brick Break, Wish
Personality: Sparky is rash and cocky, and likes to dive into battle offensively without thinking. It often has trouble listening to me because it doesn't stop charging to hear what I have to say.
Extra Information: Sparky's left ear is notched.

I hope this helps, and good luck! If you have any further questions, post them below and Tamale or I will answer them.[/size]
